Why don't we learn other languages?
There is nothing stopping us from learning other languages. We can absolutely learn all the languages we need.
Then why is there so much focus on English?
English is one of the most used languages in international communication.
English is the language of trade, communication, science and major international media, literature, business, IT, internet, education, international conferences and events, official documents including terms and conditions that we daily agree to whenever we install a new app or use the internet.
It is the language of the global marketplace and many corporate giants have made English their official corporate language.
Many important global debates are tackled using the English language. We have massive challenges with the environment, social dislocation, wars and all sorts of things going on.
If we can't communicate in the common languages, we're really going to have difficulty solving these problems.
It's practically necessary to know English for many of the technological advancements that are happening everyday.
It abridges the communication gap in our travels and it gives us a wider access to knowledge, information and research.
It's such a common language that if we know it really well, it helps boost our confidence too, because we are able to have a conversation with a wide variety of audience and become really effective in using it as a language.
Speaking English doesn't make you British. As a matter of fact, it's the official language of over 50 nations worldwide.
Learn it as a language.

Another important reason to learn English is academic.
If you aspire for higher education, local or abroad, you need to have an excellent grip on English to succeed.
