How to take O/A Level exams as a Private Student in Pakistan - Complete Guide
Just like Work From Home (WFH), Learn From Home (LFH) has also gained enough momentum for us to talk about it.
Just like Work From Home, Learn From Home is an opportunity to deliver on the objectives that do not require a formal setting. For example, science subjects require a laboratory assessment in their exams through a practical exam at A Levels. Unlike these A Level subjects, almost all the O level subjects can be studied at home.
This is because such subjects at O Levels have the option of taking an exam as an Alternative To Practical, commonly knows as the ATP exam. This is theoretical assessment. It gives the option to O level students to complete the subject at home and proceed with the examination as a private candidate at a registered centre in your area.
So once you have decided on the subjects and completed the study and preparation, you now need to register for the exam. This is normally done at the authorised registration centres.
Cambridge International Examinations happen in two sessions.
In your subject(s) syllabus, you will see a note that explains which session(s) are the subject exams available. CAIE - Cambridge Assessment International Education - releases the exam timetable on their website for the respective Administrative Zones. These are the different Zones in which CAIE has distributed the selection of countries according to their location and time zone.
Once you have identified the subjects in the exam time table, you need to register with the British Council (online), or any other authorized CAIE exam registrar for your area. This is important because you will need the Statement of Entry to enter the exam centre. This is issued after the registration is complete with all the required steps including all payments.
The registration requires you to have your personal details at hand and you will need to make sure you enter the details as you would like them to appear on your certifications. This will avoid any unmatched name objections at times of equivalency, for instance.
Once this step is complete, you will be required to make a total payment for selected subjects. After the payment is received at registrar, you will get a confirmation and further details of the exam and venue, etc.
To know more about what you will need for your exam day and the things to take with you at the exam centre, refer to the CAIE website and the registrar's information portal.
